Mitch was very knowledgeable and was very helpful today . You can tell he is passionate about what he does. In future, I’d suggest putting all the analysis on a big screen so everyone can see the analysis easily instead of a small iPad.
I am someone who is confident in the water (underwater swimming and snorkelling) but have never understood freestyle. The first video of my stroke made that very apparent!
After analysing my stroke with Mitch I was given a few areas to focus on, plus drills to break down the elements of the stroke. By the end of the session my form was hugely improved. I still have a ways to go to pull it all together consistently, but I now understand the elements of the stroke both intellectually and kinetically. Our instructor Mitch was an excellent communicator who helped me to focus on the gains I made while providing incredibly constructive feedback.
In the past I grudgingly tried to work on my stroke on my own with very little enthusiasm. This workshop actually made me excited to work on my freestyle more consistently- practically a miracle! I am super stoked to have so many tools at hand now to work on the fundamentals.
It was invaluable getting the video feed back immediately after the first and last swims of the session. The Iive feedback during drills was really helpful too. Mitch was very perceptive of everyone’s main areas for improvement while making everyone feel welcome no matter what their level or background in swimming. He was very patient and provided tailored tips to each individual throughout the drills.. The small class size and exclusive use of the nice warm pool made it really enjoyable too.
